How should we handle money? Notes from a TISSA talk
The 30 August 2025 talk for students who want to save for travel or further study, and for people spending a first salary.
On Saturday 30 August 2025, from 18:30 to 20:00, TISSA hosted a talk titled
“How should we handle money as students and first-jobbers?” on Facebook Live.
The page invited people who had just started university or just started work,
especially anyone whose pay disappears as soon as it arrives, to talk about money
in plain language. How does a student start saving for travel or further study?
How does someone in a first job handle that first salary without missing the basics?

The United States and the United Kingdom, seen by someone who studied in both
Kasiphat Wongwitthayakamchon on the difference between US and UK study, from someone who has done both.
In July 2025 TISSA published a clip by Non Kasiphat Wongwitthayakamchon,
vice-president of the Thailand–United States Alumni Association,
incoming AsiaGlobal visiting fellow at the University of Hong Kong,
and a master’s student in social innovation at Cambridge Judge Business School.
He asked a straight question: how do the United States and the United Kingdom
differ, in the eyes of someone who has studied in both systems? The clip sits
in the series that followed the TISSA launch, asking Thais who have studied
abroad to unpack that experience for people still choosing a path.

Who is TISSA?
The Thai International Students & Scholars Alliance is a network of Thai students and professionals abroad, launched in public in June 2025.
In June 2025 the Instagram account @tissa.2025 asked a short question: who is TISSA?
The page answered that the Thai International Students & Scholars Alliance was about
to make history, and asked people to watch for the launch.
On LinkedIn the network describes itself as an education nonprofit, with the line
“Thai Students & Scholars: Powering Thailand’s Role in the World”. The Facebook page
says TISSA is a network of young Thais in international roles, from many fields and
leading universities, who believe in the strength of diverse thinking.
The launch event was titled Empowered to Return. Public talks on Facebook Live
followed through the rest of the year.
